Wauchula Cemetery Clean-Up

The City of Wauchula would like to give cemetery lot owners the opportunity to remove any items that violate the rules and regulations of the cemetery. Beginning Monday, April 19, 2021 any items remaining on cemetery plots that are in violation of the rules and regulations will be removed by the City.  If you have any questions please feel free to call City Hall at (863)773-3131.

In accordance with the rules set forth by the City of Wauchula, the following regulations will apply to each grave site:

-No flower receptacles may be placed unless it consists of galvanized iron, aluminum, bronze, or other rust-resisting material. It is to be of a size and design approved by the City, and set wholly beneath the level of the grass, except for urns of marble or granite that are a part of the monument.

-The City is not responsible for any planting damaged, vandalized, or any other cause beyond the City's control.

-No planting of flowers, shrubs, or herbage of any kind is permitted on plots in the cemetery.

-Any item consisting of glass, brick, cement, wood, metal, toys, souvenirs, or emblems are prohibited from being placed in the cemetery. 

-Lot owners may place one bouquet of flowers on each grave, providing they are placed in an approved ground-level vase or in a vase that is part of the memorial.

-The use of artificial flowers during the summer is discouraged.

Conduct within the cemetery:

-Memorials must be located in accordance with the general layout of the cemetery

-No memorial shall be more than 5 feet in height from the foundation, and no die-stones shall be less than 4 inches thick or more than 14 inches thick

-No signs or notices of any kind shall be placed in the cemetery, other than those placed by the City

-Except for governmental approved or issued items, memorials consisting of wood, tin, or iron are not permitted

-The City of Wauchula exercises the right to remove any such items that do not adhere to these rules and regulations set in place
