Members of the Florida Municipal Electric Association (FMEA) elected James Braddock, Director of Support Services and Internal Auditing for the City of Wauchula, as vice president of the organization’s board of directors.

“Public power is all about community. And, the Florida Municipal Electric Association provides a statewide community for public power where we all can come together for the greater good of our industry, our communities’ electric utilities and, ultimately, our customers,” said Braddock. “I am proud to be a part of this association and I look forward to the year ahead as its vice president.”

“James and his fellow officers embody the spirit of community and they bring so much to the board table in terms of leadership, industry experience and dedication to the industry as a whole,” said Amy Zubaly, FMEA Executive Director. “We are so fortunate to have these champions advocating for and strengthening public power communities across the state.”

Other officers appointed to the FMEA board include President Mike Poucher of Ocala Electric Utility; President-elect Allen Putnam of Beaches Energy Services in Jacksonville Beach; and Secretary-Treasurer Rob McGarrah of the City of Tallahassee electric utility.

FMEA is the statewide trade association representing Florida’s public power utilities. The association actively represents and advocates for member cities’ interests on a wide variety of state and federal issues, provides education and training for members and serves as a clearinghouse for industry news and information.

Municipal electric utilities provide affordable, reliable electric service, and have been doing so for more than a century. As community-owned and locally managed organizations, these utilities are focused on serving local needs and interests while reinvesting back into the community for services, such as police protection.
