Members of the Florida Municipal Electric Association (FMEA) have elected James Braddock, director of support services and internal auditing for the City of Wauchula, as president-elect of the organization’s board of directors.

“During my tenure in public power, I have witnessed the work the Florida Municipal Electric Association does to strengthen public power communities across the state and ensure we have the resources we need to provide quality service to our customers,” said Braddock. “I am humbled to be part of this association and am eager to continue my service as president-elect of the board.”

“James and his fellow officers have shown great dedication to serving Florida’s public power communities and will continue to excel as leaders on the board,” said Amy Zubaly, FMEA Executive Director. “As our communities continue to face unprecedented times, we are especially thankful to have such knowledgeable and fierce advocates working to support the public power communities of our state.”

Other officers appointed to the FMEA board include President Allen Putnam of Beaches Energy Services in Jacksonville Beach, Vice President Robert McGarrah, general manager of the City of Tallahassee electric and gas utility, and Secretary-Treasurer Paul Jakubczak, Director of Electric & Gas Systems for the Fort Pierce Utilities Authority.

FMEA is the statewide trade association representing Florida’s public power utilities. The association actively represents and advocates for member cities’ interests on a wide variety of state and federal issues, provides education and training for members and serves as a clearinghouse for industry news and information.

Municipal electric utilities provide affordable, reliable electric service, and have been doing so for more than a century. As community-owned and locally managed organizations, these utilities are focused on serving local needs and interests while reinvesting back into the communities they serve.
