COVID-19 Update for City operations

Stop the spread

As we move through the reopening of Florida, per Governor DeSantis’s executive orders issued Wednesday, April 29th, here in the City of Wauchula know that we will be taking a “Safe, Smart, Step-by-Step” approach. Nearly a month ago, we adjusted our work practices in order to protect our customers and employees the best we can.  One adjustment included staggering our workforce to cut down contact between employees and protect our team from spread of the virus.  While this change hasn’t been easy, we have worked very hard to maintain all services in our community.  Another adjustment, one that is more obvious to our customers, is the closure of our lobby.  We understand the closure is inconvenient and we greatly appreciate customers working with us to conduct their business through alternate means.  We are still here and ready to serve you. We encourage our customers to contact us via phone or email for any and all needs they have.  This includes planning & zoning, code enforcement, cemetery and all utility services.  Cash payments are accepted on Tuesday mornings (9am - 1pm) and Friday afternoons (1pm - 5pm).  During Phase 1 of the reopening, we plan to keep these changes in place at least until May 18th.  We all know how fluid the COVID-19 situation is, so expect to see updates to these business practices as we move forward.
